The challenge
BONNED needed a modern site that kept the same content, photos and house style as the old one, but without the slow page loads and the dependency on a developer for every text change. Their editor had to be able to publish news, projects and vacancies on her own, and years of old URLs could not break.
02
The approach
Next.js 16 front end with Payload CMS in the same Vercel deployment and Supabase Postgres underneath. We migrated 20+ projects, 75+ news posts, vacancies and 400+ photos via the WordPress API, built project pages with a photo gallery that automatically pulls in photos from linked construction updates, and added forms for contact, job applications with CV upload and project requests. Drafts, live preview, scheduled publishing and editor roles give the team full control; structured data, sitemap and llms.txt handle search and AI discovery.
03
The result
Live on bonnedcontractors.com since October 2026 with Lighthouse scores of 100 for accessibility, best practices and SEO. The editor publishes updates within minutes without touching code, and every old WordPress URL still resolves.

A closer look.

BONNED Contractors has been building homes, offices, schools, renovations and civil concrete works on Bonaire since 2007. Their WordPress/Elementor site was slow, hard to maintain and no longer matched the scale of their work. We rebuilt it from scratch on Next.js with Payload CMS embedded in the same deployment, so the team manages news, projects, vacancies and photos themselves in a Dutch-language admin. All content and photography were migrated from the old site, every old URL redirects to its new home, and the design keeps the BONNED house style with a site-sign ('bouwbord') element that frames the key facts of every project.
